My name is Joanne Ingratta and I have started this blog to share my experience travelling to Turkey for the IBM Corporate Service Corps assignment. I am part of a 15-person team. We will be divided into four sub-teams to work with four different organizations. We will be living in Istanbul, Turkey for four weeks while we complete our assignments.
I am currently a Business Development Executive (BDE) / Sales Support for IBM Global Financing in Canada. We are a sales organization supporting IBM clients across Canada. Our team provides loans and leases for clients acquiring solutions from IBM. Up until five years ago, I was a sales person structuring loans and leases for our clients. Since then, I have taken on the role of liaison between our sales people and the other functions supporting the Global Financing business. Most of our support organizations are established in Centres of Excellence outside of Canada. It is a highly collaborative role requiring an end-to-end understanding of both our financing business and the overall IBM strategies.
Throughout my 25 year career at IBM, I have had the opportunity to work in many different roles. I began my career as a Systems Engineer in the London, Ontario office working with clients to address their technical IT needs and installations. I then became a sales representative in the same Southwestern Ontario branch. It was a fun, dynamic branch but advancement typically meant you had to eventually move to Toronto where IBM's headquarters and larger branches were located. Following my time in Southwestern Ontario as a client rep, I took a position in Toronto with the IBM Global Financing business unit. I have been there ever since. In IGF, I have been a Financing Sales Executive, a Marketing Programs Manager, a Software Financing Specialist, a Services Financing Specialist and now a Business Development Executive.
My husband, Jim, is also with IBM. We met working together in the London, Ontario office of the Southwestern Ontario (SWO) branch. It was a lot of fun in those days to be part of a branch office. We worked hard but we also played hard and our colleagues at work were our friends outside of work.
Jim and I have been married over 28 years and have three terrific children. Dan, Rob and Julie bring great joy to our lives and make us very proud of the adults they have become.
